School spirit events
At IFS we believe that school spirit events play a crucial role in fostering a strong sense of belonging, pride, and connection within our school community.
These events go beyond just fun activities – they create shared experiences that unite students, teachers, and families. School spirit events help pupils feel proud of their school by celebrating its values, traditions, and achievements.
Some of popular annual events include:
- Pyjama day
- Halloween costume day
- Mardi gras workshops
- Sint Maarten day
- Sinterclaus visit to school
- Dance and theatre shows
- Music performances
School student council
From middle school onwards, we have a very active student council. Pupils help to make decisions about the school and participate in regular discussion with teachers on many aspects of school life. Participation in the school council gives pupils the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Sport, music and arts
The curriculum at IFS fosters teamwork through its emphasis on sports, music, and the arts. In sports, team activities require students to communicate, strategize, and support one another to achieve a common goal. By participating in group exercises, they develop trust, leadership, and cooperation.
Music also promotes teamwork through collective practice, such as playing in an orchestra or singing in a choir. These activities teach students to listen to others, synchronize their efforts, and contribute to a harmonious performance, reinforcing the importance of working together.
The arts, particularly group creative projects, require collaboration to bring ideas to life. Whether working on a collective painting, or discussing artistic interpretations, students learn to share responsibilities, respect different perspectives, and build something greater together.
By integrating these disciplines into the curriculum, the school ensures that students develop essential teamwork skills that will benefit them both academically and in their future careers.
