Library and media centre
Our library/media centre is made up of two dedicated spaces: Primary school: Library and Documentation Centre – Bibliothèque centre documentaire (BCD).
Middle and high school: The Documentation and Information Centre – Centre de documentation et d'information (CDI)
Primary school: BCD
Our BCD is a welcoming and engaging space designed to foster a love of reading and learning among our younger pupils. Filled with age-appropriate books in French, English, and other languages, the BCD offers a diverse selection of stories, educational resources, and picture books.
Students regularly visit the BCD as part of their weekly lesson time, participating in storytelling sessions, reading workshops, and other activities that develop their literacy and curiosity. The library’s warm and inclusive atmosphere encourages young readers to explore cultures and ideas from around the world.
Middle and high school: CDI
The CDI is a hub for research, learning, and collaboration for middle and high school pupils. It provides an extensive collection of books, magazines, and digital resources in multiple languages, supporting the bilingual and multicultural nature of our school.
Equipped with workspaces and computers, the CDI allows pupils to conduct research, work on group projects, or study independently. It is also a space for academic guidance, workshops, and cultural events, helping pupils develop critical thinking and research skills that are essential for success in an international environment.
Both the BCD and CDI are integral to the International French School of Amsterdam’s mission to inspire curiosity and academic excellence. These spaces are more than just libraries – they are places where pupils explore ideas, expand their horizons, and cultivate a passion for knowledge that lasts a lifetime.
